A Look Back At "Blizzard 2011"

Blizzard of 2011
The start of the blizzard of 2011 - C.C. helping daddy shovel!

Love her face - the lake front snow and wind were fierce!

The awesome "wave" drift on the side of my house.

Looking down the block - white out conditions!

Penny Lane enjoying the blizzard!

Just a little snow in the backyard!

All bundled up and checking out all the snow!

The Blizzard of 2011 was about a month ago and I'm realizing how bad I am at uploading pictures to the computer. I blame it on my huge camera card, which can hold over 500 pictures. No matter the lateness, the pictures speak for the self. It was a great adventure for Chicago. As I look outside today, I actually miss the greatness of that snow fall. It was exciting to look at and it made you feel like a kid again. Today we don't even have an 1/2 inch on the ground but snow makes Claire super happy so it can snow any time it wants too. (Don't let me fool you, I'm a spring freak and can NOT wait until nice weather happens) Until then, I'm going to enjoy this winter with my one year old because next winter she will be two!

I don't know what our weekend has in store. I know their will be a bit of family time, since my sister in law and her kids are in town. I don't care what we do, I fully love my weekends when I have both of my favorite people home! Happy Friday Everyone!

DYI - Reed Diffusers

What you will need for your DYI Reed Diffusers:

  • 1 or 2 small decorative jars - I found two great ones at the Thrift Store.
  • Reeds - Check Walmart, they have different kinds.
  • Oil - Walmart or the dollar store in many different scents!

Here are some pictures:

Jar 1 - $1.00 from a local thrift store

Jar 2 - $.50 from another local thrift store

Reeds and Oil from Walmart and the dollar store

The finished products!

Give it a try! It's fun, easy and cheap! Plus you can pick a jar or little vase that matches to your specific decor and you can change the scent up when ever you feel like it!

Saturday Out

On our Saturday day out, we went to:

Ikea - one of my all time favorite places to shop in Illinois. We spent some time there, browsing, shopping and just having fun. I got some candles, some rugs, a grill pan and a toilet brush!

Next we ventured too:

Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, this is one of my favorite indoor malls. It's huge and as a ton of stores to shop at! As soon as we got to the mall we let Claire play in the kid's play area. It was a zoo in there but Claire didn't mind, she got right in on all the chaos. Next we all shared a soft pretzels for snack and then did a little shopping! After shopping for a bit, it was time to eat!

So we had dinner at:

Who doesn't love a good dinner at the Cheesecake Factory! We had a great time, the food was delicious but the company was the best! Dinner with my two favorite people, what could be any better! My fish taco's were pretty darn tasty and super light!

Next we had to satisfy our sweet tooth with:

"Yogen Fruz" and it's to die for! It's healthy, froyo! It was so so so very yummy! We got the non-fat w/strawberries! I was in love and now wish I had the money to open one!

All in all it was a fantastic Saturday out with my two favorite people, Eric and C.C.!

It's Beautiful Outside but Not in Our House

It's another lovely spring like day in the Chicagoland area but inside our home is a completely different story...we are all sick, again. I think it's been well over a month since our last family cold but I knew as soon as the weather was turning somewhat nice, the cold bug would invade our home once again. It's annoying. I hope our colds go away very soon or at the very least our symptoms start to die down. I can tell you, I'm over it. I'm over the sneezing, running yet congested noses, the coughing, the mucus, low fevers and the over all crankiness of some little girl that lives in this house. I'm thankful for these lovely Spring like days but geez, can't we enjoy them without catching a cold. The one thing that is making this all better...looking outside and seeing our grass. Although it's full of mud puddle and it's somewhat dead, it means Spring isn't too far off. Also, it's Friday and who wouldn't be excited that it's Friday! TGIF everyone!

Hello Spring in February

It's absolutely beautiful today! High near 60 in February, what an awesome gift! The last few days after been awesome. Claire even got to walk around outside for a little bit both days, she was very happy. Although she wanted to get to her sandbox but that was still buried by the piles of snow that are slowly melting in our yard. As of right now, most of the snow is gone, all 22+ inches we got a couple weeks ago, so our yard looks more like a swamp but hey, the snows gone! I did notice that some of my plants are starting to bud, I love that sight! Means Spring isn't too far off but we're from Chicago, so we will take this special days, wear our light jackets and have the sunroof open! I know, we all know this won't last, I'm betting snow is predict or at least cold temperatures are coming our way again before we can officially say, "spring has sprung"! I love spring in February but again, who doesn't! Happy Thursday All!

Happy Birthday Baby Brother

I just wanted to send a shout out to my baby brother, Kyle. There were many years we did not get along. I would say from the time he was 10 to about 14! Now at 22, he's one of my good friends! He's funny to be around and an all over great guy! I'm proud to have him as my brother! Love you dude!

Enjoy some pictures of him:

Happy Birthday to Me!

Happy Birthday 26th birthday to me and Happy 19 Months to Claire!

Today, Claire and I grabbed a Starbucks, did a little shopping and now are having a little lunch. We will be going over to my parents today for dinner and cake. Tomorrow night we are going out for Mexican (my favorite) with a group of good friends and then Saturday we are going out to celebrate me and my brothers birthday with our parents, Eric's parents, Kyle's girlfriend and her parent's. Then Sunday (yes, it's never ending) we are having dinner at Eric's parents house with his siblings and grandparents to celebrate me and Eric's sister's birthday! It will be a nice, busy and fun birthday weekend!

Blizzard 2011

Blizzard 2011 is coming....

Since Sunday Chicago and it's surrounding areas were put in a blizzard watch. I'm kind of excited to see if they are correct with all the snow they say we are in line to get. I've seen for my town (we live on the Illinois/Indiana border) any where from 18-28 inches of snow. They are comparing it to the massive snow storm of 1967. I really do hope we get all the snow, it's been forever and a day since we have had that much snow! The snow is suppose to start tonight and go all the way through Thursday morning! If we get a massive amount of snow like they say, pictures will be posted!

Batten down the hatches and head to the store....

Here are some pictures from the blizzard of 1967:
